* Electricity has been around forever and will likely be around forever.
* * 600BC: Static Electricity discovered. A Greek named Thales noticed rubbing amber and silk, would attract feathers and light objects.
* 1600: William Gilbert first described the Earth's magnetic field, and that magnets are related to magnetism. Invented the term electricity.
* 1705: Francis Hauksbee invented Neon Light. Placing mercury into a glass, pumping out the air and spinning it, then rubbed it with his bare hand.
* 1752: Benjamin Franklin, a U.S. politician, proved lightning is electricity. Flying a kite in a thunderstorm.
* 1700's: Wimhurst Machine invented. Used to produce static electricity easily and reliably. Two plates rotating in opposite directions. Collecting the charge in a comb-like device. Producing four inch sparks, and 50,000 Volts.
* 1780: Luigi Galvani discovered that dead frog leg muscles twitch with a bit of electricity.
* 1800: Volta invented the battery. Using pure silver and zinc discs, sandwiched between muslin damped in a salt solution. Developed from Galvani's earlier experiments.
* 1800: Sir Humphry Davy discovered Electrolysis. Decomposing some substances by passing an electric current through them. Leading to the discovery of many elements including magnesium, calcium, strontium, and barium.
* 1820: Hans Christian Oersted discovered magnetic fields. Electricity through a wire, effects the needle of a nearby compass.
* Michael Faraday discovered when a magnet is moved within a copper wire coil, a tiny electrical current travels through the wire. Eventually leading to the discovery of electric motors.
* 1821: Thomas Johann Seebeck discovered Thermo-electricity
