+Bracelet Computer, A short story in 2015 by Royce E. Barber. Concept Draft.\\
 +.\\
+This document has been made public by the Japanese Special Forces team. I’m writing this to inform the world how my team operates, that we may receive feedback and get a chance to help a wider audience. I’m the leader of the special forces, I don’t do much field work these days. In my youth I wasn’t much of a soldier, I didn’t have a lot of talent, but what I had was creativity and faith in God's son Jesus Christ. \\
 +.\\
+Wrapped around my wrist is a plastic band. It looks much like one of those snap-bracelets out of a vending machine. But this bracelet is a computer screen, with a video feed from a super computer in space. All special forces agents are required to carry this computer at all times. This computer is the basis of my story. It’s the reason I’m in the military, and it’s the reason I’ll be leaving the military. Basically, I know how to utilize this computer better than anyone else, and that got me a lot of promotions, some accidental. But the military is harsh on their equipment, they don’t take the time to get a feel for their gear. In trying to improve my gear, I was removed from the military about 20 different times because it was considered illegal to tamper with military property. I was preserving and improving my property, and tampering with it. The other cadets I worked with, they would toss around their gear like it was worthless. That’s the real tampering, they were trying to break sensitive gear.\\
 +.\\
+What’s this little bracelet on my wrist do? It’s a communication device, with a lot of onboard sensory equipment. It tells me what’s around me, and where my team mates are, and what’s around them. It’s a network of many bracelets which scan the environment to generate a 3D representation of the earth. It’s a surveillance tool we didn’t necessarily want, but need. It keeps us safe from the rogue force. The rogue force are a group of terrorists who use bellybutton computers in unsafe and illegal ways, as a sports performance drug. They make a lot of money in sports, and spend it on controlling all levels of society. The mission of the rogue force is simple, they wish to be the one and only source of bellybutton computers. They want to force every human to wear one, permanently attached within the bellybutton. Intel and AMD stood no chance and were bought out. \\
 +.\\
+There’s an alternative to this bracelet. It’s a marble with an X marking which fits in the bellybutton and attaches itself to the spinal cord and many of the inner organs. Some of my old team mates have experimented with it, but I’ll never do so. There’s something very different in my bellybutton, it’s a portal of sorts, to a higher phase of existence…Heaven. The marble in my bellybutton has no X, and is a mouthpiece for the spirit world, and it uses many ways to influence the environment around myself. The marble phases physical objects in and out of this reality. Don't ask me how. So, a cup could fall through a table if my marble needs it to. A truck could merge with solid rock. Time itself falls out of synch hundreds of years, on small objects. I ended up being the carrier of my bellybutton marble because of my faith and ability to modify my wrist band. To use my wrist band for good causes. Am I a hacker? Kind of, but a pleasant helpful one. \\

+This is how I got into the military. I was a party guest at a very large mansion of 9,000 square feet. Tons of expensive rooms, hanging lights, very high class details. Modern yet extremely rich. There was a party going on, the family was celebrating the sales of palm trees in their back yard. It was a very nice family I had lived with many years ago in another town, before they were rich. I wandered through a series of rooms and down a long flight of stairs, into a basement auditorium. To get a nice photo I turned on the light, and the sheer height of the ceiling made me weak in the knees. The room was about half of a football stadium, and the ceiling height was about stadium height too, it was quite vast. No home or mansion should have this. There was another auditorium under this one, and I couldn’t bring myself to even look. There was a dinner table in front of me, for some kind of wedding reception in this room much later on. There was a grand stage about 70 feet across, at the end of the auditorium. Someone walked up beside me and started asking why I wasn’t very good at the war game they were playing in the side yard, with paintball guns and toy figurines. Why would I play games when an immense house needed exploring? The individual touched my bracelet computer to set off some location targeting alarm, and my bracelet computer responded on its own in a way I couldn’t have foreseen: It bypassed its mute mode and auditory blurted out, “Terror alert, enemy biofeedback is that of a rogue, attempting to incapacitate”. And it shocked him, knocking him to the floor. I admit my bracelet has glitches, but attacking and profiling isn’t what I programmed it to do. This poor man lay stunned at my feet, so I bent down to shake him and people started wandering in from upstairs. He awoke and said, “I had fainted, I’m okay everyone”. And jolted back away from my wrist computer which was blinking red and recording his every movement with such intensity that my wrist became hot. I shut off my bracelet for the day. The other people playing the war game, started asking me how I weaponized my bracelet. I didn’t do anything, I simply programmed it to be sensitive to context clues, like Sherlock Holmes would be. They invited me to some war game meetings where they enlisted me as a volunteer to help new military recruits to use their bracelets. I kept my bracelet far away from the man whom it had shocked, which wasn’t easy because he wanted to study it. I noticed his bracelet was cracked and that he rarely ever used it. I found out he and a bunch of other war game players had some kind of alternative bracelets in the form of marbles, attached inside their belly button. The marbles all had a big X. They were secretive about wearing them, and didn't use their wrist computers much. One day back at the mansion I was flirting with a woman there, then I journeyed down into the lower auditorium, which was in disarray and was an immense storage room. There was a little computer lab set up behind some boxes, so I sat down and spun in the chair a bit. I noticed an abundance of the secret belly button X marbles, wired together and into the computer. My bracelet started to get very hot, so I took some photos of the X marbles and then turned off my bracelet. I heard some static noise come out of the marbles as my bracelet shut down. The marbles started to activate, blinking and chirping as they scanned their environment for a host. I touched one marble and it stuck to my finger like a leech. I had to peel it off my finger by smashing the marble with a nearby statue. It stung my finger as if I were bit by a snake. I turned on my wrist computer to scan the sting, and it said I needed to lay down for an hour and that I would be okay, I was just mildly poisoned. What kind of horrible bellybutton marble computers were being created down here? I started to question the military and thought up a plan…I’m going to form a team to gather intelligence on these bellybutton marbles. A special forces team who would never wear a bellybutton marble, especially with an X on it. I felt light headed and had to set down as my vision went dark for a moment. I awoke as some people were laughing over by the bellybutton marbles. I was behind some old junk and they didn't know I was there. They were talking about their devious success with creating permanent bellybutton marbles which are always on and glue themselves in place so the user could be tracked and robbed. That was the last straw, I had to report this to the authorities! My hand was numb but felt okay otherwise. When everyone left, I took many photos and resigned from the military volunteer program. That was easy. I noticed an "Exit" sign on the wall of the lower auditorium, which was really odd in a basement. I ventured toward the sign and my wrist bracelet started chirping as if it were receiving information. I started to open the exit door, and there was a classy antique elevator. I opened the screen door and stepped in, and there was only one button so I pressed it. The elevator shook a bit much for my taste, and started ascending upward at a fast rate. Fast and faster, I was starting to be pushed to the floor, so I pressed the one button rapidly, and pounded on it. The elevator was shaking a lot and started to slow, opening to a dark room with a lot of clutter but I couldn't find any light switches. I used my bracelet as a light, and the clutter was carved crosses, thousands of various intricate crosses piled up. The room had no doors that I could see, so I assumed it was a secret attic room. There was a circular window behind a shelf, about two feet tall. I may have to knock out the window to get out of here. I broke out the window and climbed out, safely onto a roof. My vision started to go black and I fell to my feet, sliding down the roof a bit. What a time to feel faint, this was unusual for me. I tried reaching for a roof tile, to grasp it, and I fell once more down into some kind of air shaft, breaking through a flimsy fan and halting on mosquito netting. I caught my breath, tore through the netting, and was in some kind of utility electrical room. Finally, safe. Electrical wiring and metal boxes lined one wall, with construction manuals and beer bottles on a dusty old table. There were more carved crosses here, on the walls with some palm leaves. I took some photos and plugged in my bracelet to charge. Might as well take a nap while I'm here, I was a bit bruised. \\
 +.\\
+I awoke still in the electrical room. Through the rays of light I could make out a figure laying on the floor in a torn sleeping bag and blankets. He stretched and looked up at me, saying, “I told Paul I didn’t wish to be disturbed, I’m not working here any longer. Not in a corrupted place. Look at you, on the fence between this world and something grand. All alike, you humans.” I asked what he was going on about, and he realized I’m not part of the staff. He explained the X bellybutton marbles are quite popular in the mansion, and are a form of steroids and forced surveillance. He didn’t like bracelets or smartphones, but tolerated mine. He forcefully jabbed at my bracelet a bit, and it didn’t mind him, it didn’t even scan him, as if he weren’t there. He knew it wouldn’t scan him. He demanded that I put some greasy ointment in my bellybutton and I said heck no. I found out, he and his friend carved all the wooden crosses to sell in town. Specifically in a new town that will be built here. A bit batty, that man. A nice woman brought up some soup and asked where my bellybutton marble was. I said I don’t use those, and she said I didn’t understand her. She said mine was unique and that I better find it. The batty old man told her I didn’t have my marble yet, and she started squabbling with him in another language. He kept pointing at me and shrugging as he argued with her. She left and slammed the door, as he went back to his sleeping bag. His bag wasn’t torn anymore. Something, was awfully wrong. He yelled out, "Meet me in the gardens, this time tomorrow. You live here now, such as it is. You're one of us now, with your silly bracelet and spiritual illiteracy". For some reason, I just didn't care what he said at this point, and found the door.\\
