An Overview of Christianity. Salvation through God's son Jesus Christ.
.
Introduction: This article is my personal notes on the Bible and Christianity. This is not professional nor legal advice.
.
HOW DO I GET SAVED?
* Belief in Jesus. In prayer, ask Jesus into your heart. Reject your sin, pray for forgiveness. What's not technically required but still extremely important? Physical baptism, Church, and studying the Bible, are all nourishing.
* You may take a Membership 101 class at your local Church if you like. When you're ready, you may show others you are following Jesus by becoming baptized in water as Jesus did.
* Think on the Kingdom of God, learn about it. There are many Bible Studies and Sunday Schools, catering to all types of people.
* Follow Jesus and learn about who he is in the Bible, such as a good Student Bible in modern English.
* Never shove someone to believe something against their will. Peer pressure will make them push away.
.

.
What is Christianity? What are Christ-ians? Who was Christ?
.
* The very basics: Jesus Christ died on a cross, to wash everyone of their sins. They are saved if they repent of their sin and ask Jesus into their heart.
.
Jesus Christ is the central figure that separates Christianity from other religions. Christians believe that he is both God and a man; that he created the world and mankind, and that he is alive today.
.
Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem, probably about 4 BC. He was born to Mary who was a virgin married to Joseph, a carpenter from Galillee. The precise date of his birth is not known, but it is celebrated at Christmas.
.
He was born around the 4 BC and grew up in Palestine where he taught about God's love and the repentance of sin. He died on a cross for the sins of all humanity. Three days after the crucifixion, Jesus appeared to his disciples, risen from the dead. He sent his disciples out into the world and today millions of people today know the risen Lord Christ and celebrate his resurrection on Easter Sunday.
.
The Bible tells us that Jesus is God in human flesh (John 1:1 and John 1:14).
.
Debates regarding God, and disagreements regarding Christ's nature have occurred since the times of the early church.
.
Many historians (including non-Christian historians) agree that there is good historical evidence of the life and crucifixion of Jesus. Apart from the Bible, there are numerous mentions of Jesus in historical texts. But perhaps most compelling that Jesus existed is that fact that just a few short years after his death, thousands of people were boldly proclaiming his name and were willing to die throughout the Roman Empire.
.
Jesus is widely regarded as a great teacher. Throughout the Gospels, people are frequently quoted as addressing him as “Teacher”. Jesus often taught using illustrations and stories - parables. His parables often tell of the kingdom of God and the nature of God. Sometimes the meaning is clear, at other times it can seem hidden.
.
Most of the direct teaching from Jesus' is recorded in the the Gospels. These are 4 books (Gospel of Matthew, Gospel of Mark, Gospel of Luke, Gospel of John) in the Bible. One of the most well know sections of teaching is called the Sermon on the Mount where Jesus called on his followers to live lives of love, loving God, loving family and friends and even loving enemies. Jesus also taught about himself, that it was only through him that a person could come to know God.
.
The gospel accounts of Jesus' life record numerous miracles that Jesus performed. He healed the sick, gave sight to the blind and calmed the storms. These miracles act as a testimony to the deity of Christ, as well as to his compassion.
.
Jesus was crucified in Jerusalem around the year 30 AD. He was executed because of his claims to be the Son of God, which was considered blasphemous by the religious leaders of his day. In his death, the Bible tells us, that he bore all the sins of mankind, so that we could be clean and without sin in the eyes of God. His death is remembered on Good Friday.

.
What's the Church?
* God lives within us. If you're a believer, you are part of the Church. The Church is the entire group of Jesus followers throughout the world.

You don't need a lot of equipment. You are the equipment, and all you need to keep that going is three meals a day. Travel light…don't insist on staying in a luxury inn…When you knock on a door, be courteous in your greeting…gentle in your conversation…Don't make a scene…This is hazardous work I'm assigning you. Beliefs of ONTU.ORG
* We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, accurate and authoritative Word of God.
* We believe that there is one God, never-changing and eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
* We believe in the deity of our Lord, Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
* We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, drawn by the Holy Spirit, a personal acceptance of Jesus Christ is absolutely essential.
* We believe there is no other means of salvation than Jesus Christ and we must be born anew in Him. Though God wills all to be saved, and all are invited into salvation, some will indeed be lost.
* We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy and empowered life, and in all the biblical gifts of the Spirit, apportioned and used as He wills and the Word directs.
* We believe in the spiritual unity of all those who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and we believe the central task of the Church is the Great Commission as stated in Matthew 28:19-20.

What are some clarifications about often misunderstood Bible topics?
* There is some debate about the proper translation of the original Greek into modern English.
* Heaven: There is no marriage in Heaven. Heaven has trees and roads. There are no genders in Heaven, spirit beings are different than Humans.
* Hell: The word Hell is an umbrella term referring to the divorce from God's love and kingdom. The word Hell is not in the Bible, but there are many poetic references to it as a pit, a cage, a lake of fire, among other descriptions.
* There is a great cavern between the living and dead. They cannot communicate with each other.
* Satan was once a mighty angel, who became corrupted and turned against God, and was cast down into Hell.
* Heaven will descend down, merging with a new Earth.
* Humans: Humans have an eternal soul. They cannot become angels, but can become angel-like.
* Angels: Mighty, beautiful creatures. They were never human.
* Demons: Once angels, became corrupt and roam the Earth in some kind of spirit realm. They were never human.

What does the Bible warn us about?
* Follow God's commandments, so you may stay on the straight and narrow path of righteousness.
* Know the signs of the ending days, so you won't be tricked into stumbling.
* Beware the mark of the beast.
* Avoid sexual sin of any kind.
* God hates divorce so take it very seriously.
* Much more. I'll add more later.
